This Week in Photos | Long Island Family Photographer

I swear I feel like a broken record going on and on about the cold weather, but man, it is brutal this year! The polar vortex is no joke!

Here I am shivering on the train platform. Waiting for the train in the cold is maybe my least favorite part of everyday. Well, its a toss-up between that and the windy walk from 44th Street down to Penn Station at 11:00pm every night. Just soooo cold!

As I wrote about earlier in the week, I made some big strides to cut down on my online time this week including deleting my Twitter accounts. I am liking the change. I already feel my shoulders relaxing.

Yep, we got more snow this week. It never ends.

I've been doing a lot of crafting - I made a maternity shirt out of red buffalo plaid flannel (I still have to take photos) and I've been knitting a sweater for baby boy. Also I finally finished Lila's 365 book and sent off the file to be printed!

20 weeks pregnant:

We had our 20 week anatomy scan and a midwife appointment scheduled for Wednesday and on Tuesday night I got a call saying the scan was cancelled because of the snow. I was upset because it is so hard for Eric and I to coordinate our schedules, I was afraid he wouldn't be able to come to the rescheduled appointment. Luckily the next morning the snow had stopped and the office called to say they could see us that afternoon at the hospital. We had a great appointment with our midwife first. I talked to her a lot about the delivery and how I would like it to go differently from Lila's, if possible. The big thing is that she has promised me nausea meds as soon as we get to the hospital for the delivery. The throwing up all through labor was my least favorite part last time and knocked me out for hours after Lila was born. If I can avoid that with this delivery (or at least minimize it), I will be so happy! We went over to the hospital for the scan after the midwife appointment and it was great to see our baby boy again. He is head down and perfectly healthy!

Poor Lila has been cooped up inside all week because of the cold. She went out for a short while on her sled with Eric's dad while Eric and I were at the anatomy scan, but otherwise she has been stuck inside. I pulled out some of her Christmas gifts that she hasn't yet played with as a treat this week. She has a magnet set that she really likes and also some new legos.

Taking some overdue photos for my Ravelry page. This is the baby blanket I made for Lila before she was born. She sleeps with it every night. It is well loved.

And this is Lila's 2nd birthday sweater.

If you are on Ravelry, both knits are on my project page with details and links to the patterns.

I made this Cajun Shrimp and Rice the other day and not only was it fast and easy, but it was also delicious! I will definitely be making it again.

On Saturday between shows my awesome co-workers arranged for me to go and see a movie, which I haven't done in probably three years! I saw "Her", which not only was filmed so beautifully, but also was such a perfect movie for me to see this week when I have reducing my time on social media/the internet so much in the forefront of my brain. It really confirmed my desire to unplug and reconnect with people in person.

So, that was my week!

I hope you are all staying warm!
