Snapshots of Our Week | Long Island, NY Family Documentary Photography

Happy first day of fall! The windows are open and the cool breeze feels amazing. Lila is fully into the swing of school and loving it. And I am loving my free time in the afternoons at home while Logan naps! It is a little strange having Lila home in the mornings. I have to make more of an effort to get us all out of the house because this week we were all kind of staring at each other as if to say "okay, what do we do until 11:45am? (the time she starts school).

I'm currently taking two online photography courses in light, and loving them. I've been photographing little pockets of light all over our house this week.

You really can find magic in the most ordinary of places.

I can't believe how fast Lila and Logan are both growing. I bought some pants for Lila two weeks ago that are already too short. Logan has been trying to jump this week. He's almost figured it out! And I can tell he is trying to speak. I swear he said "all done" yesterday along with the sign for it.

They both love being outside so much. I am thankful for the cooler temperatures that make this possible!

The window sill is her favorite perch.

Still trying to work out our new routine with school in the afternoons. Tuesdays and Thursdays Lila has speech before school. She just dropped her afternoon nap in July, so she gets really tired later in the day. Her teachers have told me that she has said she is sleepy at school. She's going to bed a lot earlier than she used to, but maybe we need to push it even earlier.

One of my photography classes has been focusing on shooting sun flare, haze and rim light. I took the kids to the playground just before bed one night to try and capture some of that beautiful golden light.

On Saturday we went to the car show at Point Lookout. Eric's dad brought his Camaro and he and Eric hung out all day with the car. The rest of us came in the afternoon for a few hours. It was fun!

And yesterday Lila went to a birthday party for one of her classmates. She had a great time and I did, too! Yesterday was also Eric's birthday and he and I FINALLY had a chance to go out to dinner together. We figured out that we haven't done that since Logan was only a few months old! That has to change.

And that was our week!

Happy first day of fall!
