52 Weeks of Portraits | Long Island Family Photographer
My 52 Week Project is a portrait project that documents the growth of my children. For each of their first years, I did a photo a day project of each of them... this is a simpler continuation of that. One portrait a week for the year - not your typical "sit and smile at the camera" portraits, but "environmental portraits" - photographs of my children, taken in their element, documenting this moment in their lives.
I try to write a few short words about each child under their portrait to record any details or milestones of the week.
This project was inspired by a gorgeous blog called You Are My Wild.
At the end of each year, I make a memory book of the year's portraits.
Logan - Age 2, Week 17
You insist on doing everything "all by 'self" and even though you are still little, I am surprised by how many things you really can do "all by 'self". Don't grow up too fast, sweet boy. I am savoring every tiny bit of baby still in you, all while you climb to the top of ladders, get in and out of your car seat and descend stairs like a champ.
Lila - Age 4, Week 47
I look at you with your legs growing ever longer and wonder how on earth five years flew by so quickly. You are overflowing with questions at the moment, which can get a little tiresome first thing in the morning ("mom, who made the sky?"), but I know you are just trying to get your bearings and figure out your place in the world. I promise to tell more stories and try to answer your questions as best I can.
