Snapshots of Our Week | LI Family Photographer
How do you thrive during the busiest periods in your life?
Another morning up long before the sun. These hours of the early morning when (fingers crossed!) everyone is still sleeping, are my most productive hours of the day. It has been an overwhelmingly busy fall. While I am so grateful that my business has really taken off, I was unprepared, and so finding the minutes here and there throughout the day to actually get the work done has been a challenge.
Isn't that the challenge for every parent though? There never seems to be enough time in the day. There is always another load of laundry that needs to be done, another day that the house did not get vacuumed, another day when you threw the towel in on ever being able to exercise again.
I am muddling through. The kids are getting to all their appointments. Lunch boxes have been packed (although I have forgotten to send them to school on more than one occasion), and groceries have been purchased and even made in to meals most days of the week. I'd be lying though if I said I wasn't looking forward to January and a tiny bit of downtime to recharge... and also a game plan on how to thrive during the next busy season instead of just survive.
I'd love to hear how you get through busy periods in your life. What methods do you employ in order to thrive?
Eye on the Prize
In the meantime, I will keep pushing through and keeping my eye on January. Here are some things I am looking forward to:
- watching a movie.
- maybe knit something?!
- start reading the pile of books on my bedside table.
- catch up on all our personal photo books - the yearly books for the kids, and also our 2016 family album.
- do some work on my website and a bit of admin work for my business.
- rent a Sony A6500 and try it out.
- not doing ANYTHING after the kids go to bed except veg-ing out on the couch with a glass of wine!!
Eye on the prize. Eye on the prize. I am aiming to have all my sessions delivered by mid-December and then hopefully take a month off. Let's see if I can do it!
And now, a few photos from this week.
I spent Monday working in both kids' classrooms. It was a long haul after a weekend of birthday celebrations and being slammed with a cold, but I love seeing the two of them in their school environment. So awesome to get a little peek into the life we so seldom get to see. Both kids are doing great.
Lila is doing so well in her class. She is vocal and friendly and happy, and looks forward to going to school everyday. She is doing additional music and science classes each week and she loves them. This week they watched a rocket launch on the teacher's iPad and Lila told me "one of the astronauts was a lady!".
The days are growing so short. It is dark by about 4:30pm now, which makes it hard for me to get many interesting photographs. I've been trying to embrace the low light, and work with what we've got - which is mainly light from devices or lamps.
And that was our week.
Wishing you all a relaxing, restful Thanksgiving weekend. xo
