52 Weeks of Portraits | Long Island Children's Portraits
My 52 Week Project is a portrait project that documents the growth of my children. For each of their first years, I did a photo a day project of each of them... this is a simpler continuation of that. One portrait a week for the year - not your typical "sit and smile at the camera" portraits, but "environmental portraits" - photographs of my children, taken in their element, documenting this moment in their lives.
I try to write a few short words about each child under their portrait to record any details or milestones of the week.
This project was inspired by a gorgeous blog called You Are My Wild.
At the end of each year, I make a memory book of the year's portraits.
This week was a hard one. Poor Logan had a fever until Friday and really didn't fully recover until this past Monday.
Logan - Age 2, Week 9
Poor little guy. You had a fever all week and were just the floppiest, sleepiest, weepiest little dude. It really took you until about yesterday to be totally back to normal - the fever really took it out of you. I am happy to have my funny, bouncy little nugget back!
Lila - Age 4, Week 39
You were a very patient girl last week when we were stuck in the house with a sick Logan. For ages I have been waiting and waiting for the "age of reason" - and I think its here! You finally understand (for the most part) when I explain why we can or can't do something, and respond (generally!) in a fairly logical manner (knocking on wood this instant). I am so proud of my big girl!
