52 Weeks of Portraits | Long Island Family Portrait Photographer
How is your February going so far? We are trading colds around here but enjoying the odd sunny day. Only a few more weeks until Spring!
A little background about this project: my 52 Week Project is a portrait project that documents the growth of my children. For each of their first years, I did a photo a day project of each of them... this is a simpler continuation of that. One portrait a week for the year - not your typical "sit and smile at the camera" portraits, but "environmental portraits" - photographs of my children, taken in their element, documenting this moment in their lives.
I try to write a few short words about each child under their portrait to record any details or milestones of the week.
This project was inspired by a gorgeous blog called You Are My Wild.
At the end of each year, I make a memory book of the year's portraits.
Logan - Age 2, Week 33
You've had a rough couple of weeks with illness... I was trying to count up the days you have actually been to school since the Christmas break, and I think its only three! You have been so happy to get out of the house on a few occasions though - I can't wait for sunnier days when we can spend all day outside. Soon my love, soon.
Lila - Age 5, Week 12
We registered you for kindergarten this week! I cannot believe how fast these five years have flown by. You are so excited about your new school, your new teachers, your new friends, the bus! When I think about how timid you were starting nursery school, and how I had to stay with you for three weeks before being able to drop you off - I hardly recognize this brave, adventurous girl standing in front of me! I am so excited for this next chapter - you are going to do amazing things, sweet Lila!
