52 Weeks of Portraits | Long Island Children's Photographer
A little background about this project: my 52 Week Project is a portrait project that documents the growth of my children. For each of their first years, I did a photo a day project of each of them... this is a simpler continuation of that. One portrait a week for the year - not your typical "sit and smile at the camera" portraits, but "environmental portraits" - photographs of my children, taken in their element, documenting this moment in their lives.
I try to write a few short words about each child under their portrait to record any details or milestones of the week.
This project was inspired by a gorgeous blog called You Are My Wild.
At the end of each year, I make a memory book of the year's portraits.
Lila - Age 5, Week 19
I arrived at school pick-up yesterday to find you devastated that the handle of your water bottle had broken. Such a little thing, but it clearly upset you immensely. You are generally so easygoing that sometimes I forget just how sensitive you are deep down inside. I gave you a big hug and reassured you that Daddy could fix the water bottle (he did) and you cheered up once we got outside into the fresh air. I hate seeing you so upset, especially at school, where you usually let things roll off your back more easily than at home. Nevertheless, I hope you always retain that deeply caring soul inside you.
Logan - Age 2, Week 41
Logan: "I need to go to the dentist."
Me: "You do? Why?"
Logan (completely serious): " Because my butt hurts."
Oh, you make me cry with laughter everyday :)
