Snapshots of our Week | Neighborhood Fun & A Few Days Upstate

We are in the home stretch now, plummeting toward fall and back-to-school. Logan's class had a playground meet-up this past week. It was nice to see some old familiar faces and also meet some new ones. There are a few kids from his playgroup not returning - a few we are quite sad about! Logan and Lila had fun playing and re-connecting with everyone. Logan will be going to school three days a week this coming year for 2 1/2 hours a day. He'll be in the same classroom as last year, but with a new teacher. I think he'll have a great year. I can't believe he's only a year away from pre-K! What the what?!

Walking down the street to our frozen yogurt place for an afternoon treat has been a favorite activity this summer. I'm trying to come up with an equivalent cold weather outing. My kids have fallen in love with black and white cookies in the last few weeks, so I'm thinking maybe a cafe with good black and white cookies might be a good fall/winter alternative. Anyone have a recommendation of somewhere near us in Nassau County?

Something clicked in Logan's brain about a week ago, and all of a sudden he understands how to steer his scooter and is now a total maniac on this thing! He goes so fast it's hard to keep up! No fear, this kid. Luckily he is quite taken with his new blue helmet.

My favorite warm weather activity has been sitting on our front steps in the evenings and reading while Lila and Logan watch TV. Sometimes they come and visit me "for some fresh air", too. There's just something about fresh air and the outdoors that feels soooo good.

On Friday we headed up to Copake for the weekend to celebrate Eric's cousin Joe's birthday. This will be our last visit for the summer. The next time we'll be up here will be late September for apple picking!

It has been fun hanging out and relaxing with family. Eric's sister, Dana, introduced everyone to a word game on her phone and now everyone is addicted, including Lila and Logan.

Blowing bubbles on the porch with Nana and Pops.

Working on word games with Pops. Logan learned how to spell and write "Saccoccio" this weekend!

Nothing like breakfast on the porch. It's the best way to start the day.

We went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday and picked up a ton of amazing veggies for dinner that night.

Nana also bought a beautiful arrangement of flowers. A vendor there commented that the flowers were "so joyful!". They really are!

On Saturday we all ventured over to Bash Bish Falls for a little hike to the waterfall, and then for a dip in the creek.

The rest of the weekend was pretty idyllic, too. A trip for ice cream, lots of hang time with family, a birthday feast and cake for Joe, and on Sunday we went for a long walk on the Rail Trail. I even escaped by myself for a few hours on Sunday afternoon to a coffee shop in West Stockbridge owned by a National Geographic photographer to get a little bit of work done. I loved looking at all the amazing images displayed and enjoyed the drive there and back ALL ALONE LISTENING TO PODCASTS even more!

And finally - this week's portraits: my little scootering fools.

And that was our week! How are you spending your last weeks of summer?
