A Year of Moving Pictures: January | New York Documentary Film

I am so excited to be participating in a video blog circle this year with some amazingly talented photographers that I have connected with through Clickin' Moms CM Pro program. It is no secret that I am incredibly passionate about video and believe that the inclusion of movement and sound with images makes a memory all the more tangible. I am running full force into 2016 with the goal of making films on a regular basis, not only for me and my family, but for other families as well. I can't wait to share this amazing medium with others.

I started out this month with the goal of capturing some decent audio. Its not easy! With two little kids, most audio includes screaming, whining, crying or fighting! However, with perseverance I did manage to cobble together a little family compilation video for January. I was all set to make that video my "January feature" when winter storm Jonas happened. I was in Manhattan that day and I filmed some of the storm while walking to and from work.

I think family films are incredible treasures. But I also believe in filming other parts of life, too. There is so much beauty all around us to be captured. And also so much sadness and struggle -  and those things should be captured too. Not all stories need to be told with a happy ukulele tune. There is a place for it all. That is the magic of film.

I hope to tell all kinds of stories this year.

So with that said, here is Jonas.

If you would like to see my wack-a-doo children yelling "Boobies!" you can find them over here on Vimeo :)

Now, please follow the blog circle around to see what my fellow filmmakers created this month. There are a bunch of incredible ladies in this circle! I am so honored to be a part of it!! First up is Ms. Allison Gipson!
