Friday round-up! | Long Island Family Photographer
I can't believe we leave for our California vacation a week from today! So much to do! I'm really looking forward to seeing my family and friends. Its going to be so much fun!
Lila has been climbing everything this week. She can now get on to the kitchen table and up to the cat's food (which we have stored on a side table). But in between crazy toddler wrangling, I did manage to bookmark some awesome links this week.
Here they are!
arissa Meyer pissed a lot of people off when she said there was no longer such a thing as a professional photographer. This article spells out the differences between pro and amateur.
The first blog I ever read was written by someone who told stories about my old neighborhood in Washington Heights. I also loved reading the early knit blogs. Now with all the advertising and plugging of products, the stories that made original blogs so ORIGINAL have kind of fallen by the wayside. Can we go back there?
Speaking of stories and writing, I like the idea of the Five Minute Friday. Writing for five minutes based on a one-word prompt.
I've been on a mission this week to get some gardening inspiration by way of blogs. I used to get so inspired by the early knit blogs. Surely there are gardening blogs out there that can inspire me, too, right? I bought the book "You Grow Girl" and have also started following the author's blog of the same name.
This looks like a really cool gardening blog that has lots of projects to do with kids. I just added it to my feed reader. I love the idea of a tin bath herb garden like the one in her most recent post!
Soule Mama's post this week about her garden is really inspiring. It looks amazing!
oes anyone have any gardening blogs they recommend?
My friend Justin has one of these pieces of art. How awesome are they? I would love one in our house.
Magnum photographer Wayne Miller died this week. His photographs are really worth a look. Really amazing stuff.
These tips for taking self-portraits are spot-on!
This self-care hotography and writing class for toddler mamas sounds like it could be really wonderful.
Can you believe a 14-year-old shot and edited all these amazing photos?
We do shot night every Tuesday night at work and I think these mojito jello shots would be so good!
Manhattanhenge was this past week. Sounds like the weather was perfect!
This video about Instagram's community is so good. It also reminds me of how awesome Flickr was when I first joined. Its all about the community!

y favorite thing this week? This brown butter rhubarb cake. Go make it now.
I read Annie Spiegelman's books about her garden years ago. I just started re-reading them. Again, trying to find my green thumb!
njoy your weekend, all!
