The Mangan Family | New York City Vacation Family Photographer

I have been so lucky these past few months to have had the opportunity to meet and photograph a few families who are visiting New York City - some for the first time, some seasoned vets - but all extremely excited to be in the big Apple! I love showing families around this city that I love so much, and seeing the wonder and awe on their faces at locations that have become so familiar to me over the years.

I was really looking forward to meeting up with Kristi and her family, who were visiting from Florida, because her girls (who are 8 and 9) are at such great ages for visiting New York City. There are so many fun things to do here with kids. I was really excited to see their impressions of the city!

We made plans to meet up and visit Top of the Rock and then spend some time in Central Park.

Now I have to say, that even though a lot about NYC has become run-of-the-mill to me,  the view from Top of the Rock still blows me away. I met Kristi and her family there bright and early and we made our way up to roof of Rockefeller Center as soon as the doors opened. It was the PERFECT time to be there. There were very few people there that early, and the light was just gorgeous. We had been worried about rain all week, but lucked out with a beautiful clear morning with views of the whole city. It was spectacular.

After finishing up at Rock Center, we walked up Fifth Avenue past all the big shop windows to have a breakfast picnic in Central Park, and then walked up to the Conservatory Water, where the girls raced model sailboats around the pond.

It was such a lovely, quintessential New York morning! Come take a look at magical NYC in some images, and in the family's film below.

One can’t paint New York as it is, but rather as it is felt.

And the family's film...

If your family is planning a visit to New York City, I would love to document a day (or part of a day) for you! Put the camera down, relax and enjoy yourself, while I take over as the family paparazzo!
