Snapshots of Our Week | New York Family Photographer

Colds have hit our house once again. I feel like we just kicked the last round! I guess that's winter for you. The kids have been wearing their snow gear to school to fight the freezing temps, and we did finally get our first actual snow on Saturday, which unfortunately resulted in a holiday party being cancelled. We've been hunkering down with hot cider and a box of tissues.

We've been so enjoying our cozy house illuminated most of the time with only lights from the Christmas tree. Every year I think I should just leave twinkle lights up around the house permanently. There is just something so magical about them. Logan is usually so crabby when he wakes from nap, but one look at the lights on the Christmas tree turns him into a happy mush. Definitely magic.

A few photos from our week:

I've been playing around with my speedlight during these dark winter days. I am second shooting my first wedding in March and I need to practice my flash skills. I actually love using my flash in our basement. It provides some directional light in an otherwise windowless room.

I had to take these fake candles away from the window sill, even though I really like how they look. The kids would not leave them alone.

After-school shenanigans.

Someone is clearly fed up with all the errand running.

No matter how cold the weather is, Lila and her classmates always want to "run on the hill" after school. Its a little daily running-off-of-energy before heading home. The other day they were peeking through the fence at the teachers leaving school.

Watching the snow fall on Saturday.

Lila and I went outside during Logan's nap and built a little snowman.

Inspecting the backyard. A few tough tomatoes were hanging on for dear life.

Yesterday we had a "Girls Day" with Eric's mom and sister in the city. We went to Radio City to see the Christmas Spectacular, then to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree, out for a nice lunch, and then introduced Lila to American Girl Place. Such a fun day.

And that was our week... only two more left in 2017, can you believe it?

Have a great Monday!
