52 Weeks of Portraits | Long Island Children's Photographer
My 52 Week Project is a portrait project, documenting the growth of both of my kids. For their first years, I did a photo a day project of each of them... this is an easier continuation of that! One portrait a week for the year. My portraits are not your typical "sit and smile at the camera" portraits. They are "environmental portraits" - photographs of my children, taken in their element, documenting this week, this moment in their lives.
I try to write a few short words about each child under their portrait to record any details or milestones of the week.
This project was inspired by a gorgeous blog called You Are My Wild.
At the end of each year, I make a book of the year's portraits - so far I have been using Artifact Uprising as my printer.

This week you started really saying Lila's name to get her attention. Only you can't make the "l" sound, so its sounds like "Wawa! Wawa! Wawa!". Adorable.

You LOVE picking flowers and making little bouquets to bring home. I want to get you a flower press for your posies.
If you have been wanting portraits of your family, but are worried about whether your children will sit for a photographer, then consider a more documentary-style of family photography. I capture environmental portraits like these at all of my family sessions. You can read more about my sessions here.
