52 Weeks of Portraits | Long Island Family Portrait Photographer

We are starting to pull out of the funk around here. We've even had sunshine on a couple of odd days!

A little background about this project: my 52 Week Project is a portrait project that documents the growth of my children. For each of their first years, I did a photo a day project of each of them... this is a simpler continuation of that. One portrait a week for the year - not your typical "sit and smile at the camera" portraits, but "environmental portraits" - photographs of my children, taken in their element, documenting this moment in their lives.

I try to write a few short words about each child under their portrait to record any details or milestones of the week.

This project was inspired by a gorgeous blog called You Are My Wild

At the end of each year, I make a memory book of the year's portraits.

Lila - Age 5, Week 11

Your Riley-girl passed away last week (Nana and Pops' dog). You took the news very calmly with tears in your eyes. You say you understand, but I am guessing that this might be something that takes a while to sink in. You have such a big heart, though, and you told Nana that when you are bigger, you are going to buy her a new dog. So compassionate you are, always thinking of other people.

Logan - Age 2, Week 33

My little monkey is back! You are dealing with the last remnants of a cold and cough, and man, you are milking it. So many tears, wanting cookies for breakfast, cookies for dinner, nursing all night. You are PLAYING me big time, mister. As soon as that cold is gone, it is time for some Logan bootcamp!
