The Lynch Family: A Story in Motion | Astoria, Queens Lifestyle Video
I absolutely loved going back to my former 'hood of Astoria, Queens and filming a morning with this awesome family. Lindsay and Dan are parents to two-year-old twins, and have been residents of Astoria for 13 years now. (Astoria is where I first lived when I moved to NYC in 2002!)
Lindsay wrote to me a few months ago about doing a family film session, and told me the devastating story of their Astoria apartment catching on fire just a few months before giving birth to the twins. All of the gifts they had been given for their baby shower were lost, along with many other belongings - and they had to move into temporary housing just prior to Lindsay giving birth. The neighborhood really rallied around the family though, and donated many items needed for the babies. What a heartwarming story of community during a time of such upheaval.
Now that the twins are getting bigger, Lindsay and Dan admit that they may eventually have to move out of the city in order to have more space for their family to grow. Because of this, they really wanted this film to feature this neighborhood that they adore. The twins are also currently obsessed with the subway - both watching it from their balcony and riding it, so that became a big part of our session as well.
Lindsay and Dan, I hope this film proves to be an invaluable time capsule of this season of your life - thank you so much for sharing your morning with me, and entrusting me to capture your story.
