52 Weeks of Portraits | Personal Documentary Project
A little background about this project: my 52 Week Project is a portrait project that documents the growth of my children. For each of their first years, I did a photo a day project of each of them... this is a simpler continuation of that. One portrait a week for the year - not your typical "sit and smile at the camera" portraits, but "environmental portraits" - photographs of my children, taken in their element, documenting this moment in their lives.
I try to write a few short words about each child under their portrait to record any details or milestones of the week.
This project was inspired by a gorgeous blog called You Are My Wild.
At the end of each year, I make a memory book of the year's portraits.
Logan - Age 3, Week 3
We celebrated you turning three with a party this past weekend. Three. It's hard to believe it has already been three years since you joined our family. It has gone by so quickly, and yet at the same time, I hardly remember our life without you. Your sunshine, you sass, your hugs, your giggles, your stubbornness, your imagination, your sweet voice. I thank my lucky stars that we were chosen to be together. I can't imagine life without you.
Lila - Age 5, Week 33
You lost your first tooth this week... the beginning of the road away from little girl to big. Your legs are growing longer and longer everyday. It is bittersweet for me, to see how fast the time is flying by. This was a tough week on top of it all, with our personalities and wishes and moods colliding. Summer vacation, with everyone home all the time, can be a difficult in that way. Through it all, you constantly teach me about myself, challenge me, make me look at myself in the mirror, help me grow. You may be taking strides more independently, but I am with you always.
