52 Weeks of Portraits | Documenting My Children As They Grow
A little background about this project: my 52 Week Project is a portrait project that documents the growth of my children. For each of their first years, I did a photo a day project of each of them... this is a simpler continuation of that. One portrait a week for the year - not your typical "sit and smile at the camera" portraits, but "environmental portraits" - photographs of my children, taken in their element, documenting this moment in their lives.
I try to write a few short words about each child under their portrait to record any details or milestones of the week.
This project was inspired by a gorgeous blog called You Are My Wild.
At the end of each year, I make a memory book of the year's portraits.
Lila - Age 5, Week 36
It was a pretty awesome week having Lucy here. You spent every waking moment together, and every sleeping moment together too! (we put your beds together upstairs). I loved seeing the two of you play together, and I wish it were possible more often. I hope you savor the memories of this summer forever. I can't wait to put a photo book together for you as a keepsake. In the meantime, you'll keep wearing your matching necklaces and we'll send lots of letters and pictures through the mail. Best Cousins Forever.
Logan - Age 2, Week 6
I love how you have no problem keeping up with the big kids. It's actually really interesting to see how much more interactive you are with older kids than you are with the kids in your own class. We went to Coco and Luna's house at the beginning of last week, and you were just as much a part of the gang as the big girls. You also held your own with Lucy and Lila after Lucy arrived last Saturday. No leaving this little guy behind!
