A Mother/Daughter Trip to New York City | NYC Vacation Photographer

A few weeks ago I was invited to tag along with this lovely mother/daughter duo in Manhattan for the morning. They were there to celebrate mom’s 70th birthday and re-visit some of their favorite places in New York City.

Unfortunately after a week full of sunshine, it was overcast and rainy that morning, so we quickly re-thought our plans, and decided to hit as many midtown sights as we could before it started pouring. We walked to Radio City, Times Square, Bryant Park and New York Public Library, before jumping on the train and heading down to the South Street Seaport, where the mist parted and we were blessed with an amazing view of the Brooklyn Bridge. We finished off the morning with a refreshing glass of wine at an outdoor bar at the Seaport - it may not have been the morning we originally planned for, but in the end, it was pretty darn nice!

While sipping our drinks, we talked about how sometimes you have expectations that don’t pan out (like in this case - outfits picked out that didn’t work for the cold weather, and plans that had to be adjusted), but when it comes down to it, the important thing will always be the time spent with the ones you love. I hope these photographs will always be a special reminder of just that - that real is way better than perfect.
