Snapshots of our Week | New Year
January is here and we are back into the swing of things after the holiday break.
I took a walk early in the morning on New Year’s Day with Tank. We were still upstate in Copake. I photographed some of the natural features of land to remember January by. Bare trees, brownish orange leaves, mist, everything very wet. The stream was rushing into the pond and no snow or ice to be seen. Its been quite a mild winter so far… I wonder if that means we will make up for it in February/March?
The kids started back at school on Wednesday and on Thursday I went into the city to catch the Vivian Maier color exhibit at a gallery on 57th Street, and then had an appointment at the Actor’s Fund to sort out our health insurance for the next year (that meeting went miraculously well - no computer glitches or anything!). I walked up 5th Avenue to see if any of the holiday decorations were still up. Most of the stores were taking down their window displays, but it was nice to see the skaters in Bryant Park and the big tree still up at Rockefeller Center.
On Saturday we celebrated cousin Charlotte’s third birthday with a family party. On Sunday I had a maternity session in Manhattan in the morning, and then took the kids to the community center baseball fields in the afternoon to fly a kite. It was so blustery - perfect kite weather!
This week is chock full of extracurricular activities, parties and a trip to the city to see “Frozen” - I’m looking forward to the end of January being a bit more calm!
The sun is setting closer to 4:45 now, which means we still have a bit of light at 5pm. The longer days are coming.
