Snapshots of our Week | Valentines Week

And here we are, already mid-way through February! This week was filled with Valentines’ festivities - Lila and Logan both made bundles of goodies for their classmates and brought home backpacks filled with cards and candies.

It’s still awfully brown and gloomy outside - the kids had an odd snow day on Tuesday where we got less than an inch. I guess the school district was worried about ice. It definitely was not enough to build a snowman, but Lila and Logan did go out and throw a few snowballs. As much as we all like warmer weather, the lack of snow this season has been a bit disappointing!

Signs of spring have been popping up around us. I spied some buds on a bush in the backyard and the green sprouts of snowdrops around our back fence.

On Saturday we drove over to Garvies Point Museum and Preserve in Glen Cove. Lila and Logan enjoyed looking at the dinosaur fossils in the museum and doing an animal tracks craft. We also went on a guided birdwatching walk, which was fun. It was a beautiful area and the beach down below looked really pretty. We will definitely go back in warmer weather to explore the surrounding trails.

This week is winter break, so we are relaxing at home and heading up to Copake for the weekend. Looking forward to the change of scenery. And then next week we say hello to March!
