Current Favorite Podcasts

We’re coming up on the one-year anniversary of our dog’s “Gotcha Day” - he’s brought so much to our lives (and eaten a whole lot of shoes and towels), but probably the best addition to my life, personally, since adopting him, has been my twice-a-day walks with him.

I get up very early to shower and walk him before the kids wake and Eric has to head out to work. We spend a half an hour walking the neighborhood, and repeat the ritual again at night after the kids go to bed. I use the time to clear my head, relax, and listen to podcasts.

I don’t know when I started listening to podcasts more regularly than music, but I think it must have been when I was on tour and driving all over the country back around 2007-ish. I remember listening to a few knitting podcasts back then (“Cast On”, anyone?) and “This Week in Photo” (which is still around!).

These days I listen to podcasts on all sorts of topics. They are my go-to when I need an answer, my mood to be lifted, advice or virtual transport to another place (listening to “Dispatch to a Friend” this past winter was glorious!).

Do you listen to podcasts? What are your favorites? I’d love to hear!

(I’m particularly interested in suggestions for any good crafting/homesteading podcasts or inspirational listens for starting the day.)

And now I’m off to walk the dog! I’m listening to the latest episode of “Armchair Expert” this morning to start the day off with a smile on my face :)
